  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the sour cream and cottage cheese.
  • Layer the bottom of a greased baking dish with the cooked egg noodles.
  • Spread the sour cream and cottage cheese mixture over the noodles.
  • Pour the beef and tomato mixture over the top.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions if desired, and serve hot.
