This easy Cherry Cobbler recipe is a delicious summer dessert made with sweet cherries and a buttery golden topping. Perfect for family gatherings or weeknight treats, it’s simple to make with pantry staples and fresh or frozen cherries.

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • Optional: Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cherries, 3/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Cook until thickened, about 5–7 minutes.

  3. Pour cherry mixture into a greased 8x8-inch baking dish.

  4. In a bowl, whisk flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add milk and stir just until combined.

  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter over cherries.

  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and cooked through.

  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • You can use fresh or frozen cherries; no need to thaw if frozen.

  • Add a pinch of cinnamon to the cherry filling for extra flavor.

  • Best served warm, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
