This easy homemade ground beef empanada recipe uses a flavorful mix of seasoned ground beef and a flaky crust for a perfect snack or meal.   • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package of empanada dough (or homemade dough)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  3. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, cumin, paprika, chili powder (if using), and diced bell pepper. Cook until well mixed. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Roll out the empanada dough and cut into circles.
  6. Place a spoonful of beef mixture onto each dough circle. Fold and crimp the edges to seal.
  7. Brush each empanada with egg wash and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
