Hamburger Rice Casserole is a hearty and delicious dish made with ground beef, cooked rice, creamy mushroom soup, and melted cheddar cheese.   • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
  • 1/2 cup milk or broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing the dish)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a casserole dish with butter.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef, cooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, milk or broth, sour cream (if using), and frozen peas and carrots.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and spread it evenly.
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let the casserole cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Add diced green chilies or Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.
  • Make it vegetarian by using plant-based meat and a vegetarian cream soup.
  • Substitute ground beef with lean turkey for a healthier option.
