This Italian pink sauce pasta, also known as rose pasta, combines tangy tomato sauce with rich cream for a smooth, velvety texture. A perfect blend of flavors, this easy-to-make dish is a restaurant-quality meal at home.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or fettuccine)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 ½ cups tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter

 

  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook pasta according to package instructions; reserve ½ cup pasta water.
  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat, sauté garlic and onion until soft.
  • Add tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Lower heat, stir in heavy cream and butter. Mix well.
  • Add cooked pasta, toss to coat. Adjust sauce consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.

 

  • Stir in Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
  • Add grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein.

 

  • Adjust spice level with more or less red pepper flakes.
