Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 1 (24 oz) bag frozen cheese ravioli (or meat ravioli)
  • 1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese for a lighter option)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Garnish (optional):

  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped
  • Extra Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Cook the Meat: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a skillet, cook ground beef (or Italian sausage) over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce and set aside.
  • Prepare the Creamy Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ricotta (or cottage cheese), sour cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  • Layer the Casserole: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Place half of the frozen ravioli over the sauce. Spread half of the creamy cheese mixture on top of the ravioli, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella. Repeat with another layer of meat sauce, ravioli, creamy cheese mixture, and finish with the remaining mozzarella.
  • Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley or basil, and extra Parmesan if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with Italian sausage for more flavor.
  • If using fresh ravioli, reduce the bake time by 5-7 minutes.
  • Customize the sauce with your favorite herbs or spices for a unique flavor.
